The Montreux Healthcare Advisory Board’s Chairman, Prof. Barry Carpenter CBE, has produced a written ‘Think Piece’ in collaboration with his son. The piece deals with the impact COVID 19 and the lockdown is having on our young people.
Prof. Carpenter has also produced an online lecture for parents, educators, and clinicians which explores the threads and dynamics the thought piece considers in a more accessible format. The lecture has so far received over 10,000 views and over 100,000 hits on the ‘Evidence for Learning’ website.
Prof. Carpenter said of his work: “We have all felt the impact of the pandemic on our well-being, but what of the mental health of our children, our future generation?”
“This crisis should not be allowed to rob them of hope – the gift of childhood. It is the responsibility of all adults who care for the children, (teachers, parents etc) to help them find their place in this World again, and to build their emotional resilience. Our future as a Nation depends on it.”
