Montreux Capital Management, Advisor of the Montreux Care Home Fund and the Montreux Commodity Fund, has appointed hedge fund pioneer Ian Morley as its chairman.
A founding member of the original European ‘fund of hedge funds’ as well as the hedge fund managers’ trade association, the Alternative Investment Management Association, Morley is one of a number of appointments that the three-year old firm has made as it seeks to expand its alternative investment slate.
Morley, who will also head up corporate governance within the company, was part of the original London Phibro team which made markets in gold and other precious metals outside the historic fixing members of the London gold market.
He said of his appointment: “I am delighted to take on this new role as chairman of Montreux Capital. This growing firm and engaging management team are focusing on the creative investment area of truly diversified alternatives.”
Piers Sword, head of operations and distribution, added: “It is a testament to our development as a company and the success of the funds that we manage that we have someone of Ian Morley’s reputation and stature on staff.”
